Housed at Marine Studios in Margate, the Writers’ Room provides a hub for writers of all backgrounds and means. Bringing together writers and members of the wider creative community, the Writers’ Room offers a poetry library, regular development and support programming, as well as subsidised desk spaces for low-income writers. 

In response to the coronavirus crisis we created Back & Fill – a movement of seaside festivals all around the UK. This was inspired by a need to support the fragile economy of seaside towns. Read more about it here.

HKD and Marine Studios created GEEK to unleash and celebrate the power of games and play within the realm of museums, galleries, heritage, science centres and more. Part museum, part lab, it is a platform to meet, make and play. Over 30 GEEK events have taken place worldwide, in venues from Margate to Singapore. Read all about it here.

Adventures in Comics brought the excitement of graphic novels to Margate. Through open submission exhibitions and publications, we showcased work from a number of artists working within comics, graphic novels and sequential art. These were local and international, the experienced professionals as well as emerging new talent. The project archive can be found here.
